Thank you for sending me the link to this webinar! I was very interested to hear your views on stagflation and you did not disappoint. I have been trying to work out in my mind where I differ from you, and it is not very much. However, there are some subtle points.

David Graeber was considered one of the world's leading anthropologists. His recent publication, The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity, co-written with archaeologist David Wengrow, was published posthumously in 2021. It provides a reinterpretation of established anthropological theory. An organizer and intellectual leader of the activist left on both sides of the Atlantic, he is credited with helping launch the Occupy Wall Street Movement and coin its slogan, “We are the 99 percent.”

Clara Bow was an American actress who shaped cinema, celebrity, fashion, “sex appeal” and what was deemed “acceptable” in Hollywood. Unfortunately, much of the complexity of her personality and her roles have been forgotten or attributed to other people. Those who have heard of her most likely know of her and Helen Kane being the inspiration behind Max Fleischer’s “Betty Boop”.

The Roaring Twenties was a time of great change in the fashion world and society at
large. At the dawn of the 1920s, the world was still reeling from the First World War. The
conflict, which ended just over a year before the new decade began, had a fundamental
and irreversible effect on society, culture, and fashion. Utility and practicality in fashion
became more normalized especially for women. With suffrage and a greater move
towards gender equality women demanded functional clothing, ones that didn’t limit

Let go the people who are not prepared to love you. This is the hardest thing you will have to do in your life and it will also be the most important thing. Stop having hard conversations with people who don't want change.

LGBTQ+ women have been impacting the fashion world and the world at large forever however we rarely get to hear about the history of queer women at all yet alone their fashion. This doesn’t mean that there haven’t been people advocating for and teaching these histories. Hopefully reading this article will inspire you to learn more about the history and the resources list will give you at least a few places to start.

It feels as though we should have left behind old sexist ideas around women’s health and anatomy, however it is frightening just how many of them seem to have stuck around and still play a role in society's perceptions of women in sports. While this article obviously can’t cover all of the instances in which oppressive patriarchal ideas impact modern women’s sports we hope to highlight a few.
